Always one of the biggest days of the year. GALA DAY.
Massive thanks to all of the whanau who contributed, with donations, time, effort, running stalls and spending money. Particularly Whaea Vanessa, Whaea Renaee, Whaea Tracey and their organising komiti. An awesome day of whanaungatanga under the sun!

Katahi te rangi nui whakaharahara ko tera.
It was an honour and privilege for Hato Paora to host the swearing in of Old Boy Damian Stone (87-91) as a Maori Land Court judge. The first from our kura. Damian is an outstanding example for our current students of what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and compassion. We want to acknowledge this awesome achievement but also his desire to bring this auspicious occasion to our kura. Whaia te Tika.

Aue taukuri e!
This week the boys have been exploring various social and cultural responses to the events in Otautahi last week. The Year 11s decided to build a memorial to the victims and their whanau. We had morning chapel out at the memorial this morning. Totally impressed with the motivation and commitment of the boys in designing, planning and building the memorial. Kia mau pu te rongo.

Great day today with a whole school rugby skills clinic. Big thanks to Waaka Poutu, Christian Smith, Josh Strickland, Shaun Whenuaroa, Jack Komene and Reece Robinson for coming out and sharing their expertise with the boys. A great learning experience and solid start to our preparations for the rugby season.
First Fifteen preliminary squad was named as well, congratulations to all the boys who made it. Thanks as always to Pa Norm and Pa Dan for the work they put in to our rugby programme.
